Assists Superintendent and Asst. Superintendent, Board of Education members and District Administrators by performing secretarial duties such as typing, responding to telephone calls and maintaining files. Acts as liaison between the District and the community.

  • Serves as the receptionist for the District Office.
  • Types correspondence, letters, memos, purchase orders, check requests, forms, etc.
  • Performs a variety of special projects.
  • Interfaces with District parents, community.
  • Maintains general office files.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all confidential material.
  • Receives and places phone calls and records all messages; as well as screens calls.
  • Maintains knowledge of school district operations.
  • Opens mail and order supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

High school diploma. Two years secretarial experience preferred.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff and students.


Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic math.


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Additional Job Information:
This position is a full time permanent position that will work in conjunction with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent's offices as well as serve as the receptionist for the District Office.

A person may not be employed by a public school employer in any position requiring licensure and certification if the person does not meet licensure and certification requirements established under Chapter 12 of [Title 14 of the Delaware Code]..., except pursuant to a license extension and/or emergency certificate issued pursuant to Chapter 12. See 14 Del. C.§ 1313.
