The Substitute Custodian, on an as needed basis, provides a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. To accomplish these tasks the Custodian must work closely with the Chief Custodian and building administration.


1. High school diploma or GED, preferred.

2. Performs general custodial work.

3. Applicant must demonstrate a level of knowledge and/or experience appropriate to the position.

4. Favorable criminal background and child protection registry check for the candidate offered employment.

5. Tuberculin test.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.

2. Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.

3. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds on a repeated basis, and 50 or more pounds on occasion (i.e. salt/ice melt, furniture, unloading delivery trucks, etc.).

4. Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, twisting, and reaching.

5. Requires climbing and balancing.

6. Must work indoors and outdoors year-round.

7. Must work in and around dust, fumes, and odors.

Reports To: Building Principal and Chief Custodian

Salary Range: From/To: TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. Rate of Pay - $9.58 per hour 2. Up to 29.50 hours/week 3. Specific work times will be determined based on school assignment.
