POSITION: Operations Technician Level II

LOCATION: Office of Technology

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Technology

STARTING DATE: June 25, 2018


The Capital School District is seeking a well-rounded and experienced computer technician to serve as an Operations Technician Level II. A successful candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills, expertise in independently troubleshooting and resolving diverse technical issues ranging from individual computers to enterprise systems, and experience in creating planning and procedural documentation. The Operation Technician is the primary point of escalation for computer field technicians, as well as a leading contributor to closing service requests.

  • Independently completes service requests, in addition to other technology responsibilities, such as large scale projects
  • Serves as the technical lead on projects/tasks assigned to the operations team
  • Primary point of escalation for computer field technicians assigned to the operations team
  • Provides expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining Windows Clients (Windows 7 - 10) and Server Operating Systems (Server 2008-2016).
  • Troubleshoot and configure software (Microsoft Office 2013/2016, Internet Browsers, Google Apps, Distributed Audio Video Systems, Digital Signage, etc)
  • Establish clear ownership for project tasks, assigns tasks to the proper resource, and ensure that team members have the required support to successfully perform their assignments
  • Conducts regular status meetings to ensure that weekly operational objectives are achieved along with longer term strategic objectives set by the District and Supervisor of Technology
  • Works collaboratively with Systems Technician to assist in the development and alignment of departmental planning and tracking documentation for multisite initiatives
  • Provides effective technical training in group or one-on-one sessions on a variety of technical subject areas
  • Receives and communicates relevant information to/from internal and external sources by telephone, email or in person.
  • Establishes best practices and documentation for:
    • Device Deployments, software and hardware upgrades/migrations, file management, printer configurations, etc.
    • Troubleshooting computers, mobile devices, wireless connectivity, Smartboards, Audio/Video equipment, network printers and other diverse equipment/software systems
  • Promotes the values of collaboration, proper prioritization, and individual responsibility through leadership.
  • Works a flexible schedule, including some evenings or weekends as required
  • Other duties as determined by District and Departmental needs

  • Previous experience working with file and print servers in a Windows environment, network administration, and PC troubleshooting preferred
  • Experience with telephone and network/wireless infrastructure preferred
  • Previous experience working with desktop technicians, providing escalated technical support and end-user support staff preferred
  • Bachelor degree relating to technology preferred
    • Equivalent experience with certifications acceptable
  • Exceptional planning, time management, organizational, communication and technical skills.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrated ability to learn new skills/technology and excels under pressure.
  • Experience working in an educational organization desired

Standard Requirements:
  • Favorable Criminal Background Check for the candidate who is offered employment.
  • Tuberculin test & Physical.

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Additional training or coursework related to technology
