SUMMARY :

Responsible for assisting teachers in planning instruction and/or adaptation of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences and meet both IEP goals and state standards as measured by the state test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assists teachers in planning curriculum, lessons, and providing research-based instructional practices that helps students meet the state standards as measured by the state test
  • Assists teachers in planning curriculum, lessons, and providing research-based instructional practices that helps students meet their IEP goals
  • Assists teachers in providing effective special education accommodations for students in classes.
  • Assists teachers with assessment of student progress based on student class work, test scores, observation, and other data.
  • Assists teachers with evaluation and monitoring of student progress based on work output and observation, determined goals, benchmarks and directions
  • Assists teachers with the selection of appropriate assessments tools to measure student progress on both curricular and behavioral IEP goals and progress on the regular curriculum
  • Works with content specialists to provide teachers with necessary content knowledge to develop appropriate IEP goals and foster content knowledge necessary to promote student achievement
  • Models classroom instruction practices which are based on research-based instructional practices
  • Provides professional development to teachers and administrators
  • Assists teachers with preparation of IEP goals
  • Reviews IEPs for compliance

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE :

Bachelor's degree in education and at least 3 years' experience teaching students with disabilities.

CERTIFICATES , LICENSES , REGISTRATION :

Teaching certificate with special education endorsements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general text, business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write lesson plans, units of study, and create professional development presentations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, students, administrators, parents and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY :

Ability to define problems, collect date, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

Ability to use technology for communication as well as for data analysis and event recoding. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement model lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

Salary Range: From/To: $41, 283-$81, 656 per year based upon level of education and years of related, full-time experience.
