This position is a 10-month District-level position and will answer directly to the Director of Instruction. This position is responsible for assisting teachers in planning instruction and/or adaptation of the ELA education program in grades 6-12 to enable students to benefit from educational learning experiences to meet state standards as measures by state assessments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

1) Provides support for teachers in the improvement of reading instruction and achievement.

2) Provides instructional support and constructive feedback to teachers through walkthroughs, coaching, side-by-side co-teaching, modeling, etc.

3) Plans and presents professional development and in-service workshops in reading.

4) Provides feedback and assists the principals and district administrations with the design and implementation of reading curriculum and the professional development needs for

teachers/specific content department.

5) Provides assistance with the dissemination and interpretation of data from state assessments and other local assessments.

6) Provides direct classroom assistance with the dissemination and interpretation of data from state assessments and other sources.

7) Assists teachers with the analysis of reading lessons.

8) Provides diagnostic and remedial information to teachers.

9) Informs members of the staff in reading of major trends and developments affecting them.

10) Takes a leadership role in the revision of reading curriculum and curriculum guides.

11) Orients new teachers in reading.

12) Provides reading related duties as assigned by district leadership.

13) Participates in reading curriculum cadre/coalition meetings at the state level.

14) Will work closely wit the Pre-K through 5th grade literacy coach in order to have a comprehensive reading program Pre-K through 12th grade.

Salary Range: From/To: $41, 283-$81, 656 per year based upon level of education and years of related, full-time experience.

Additional Job Information:
Three years of ELA teaching experience preferred.

Reading Specialist certification preferred.

A person may not be employed by a public school employer in any position requiring licensure and certification if the person does not meet licensure and certification requirements established under Chapter 12 of [Title 14 of the Delaware Code]..., except pursuant to a license extension and/or emergency certificate issued pursuant to Chapter 12.
