Summary

Exercises independent judgment within established procedures in providing secretarial/clerical support in connection with the operation of an academic unit in compliance with school district and State of Delaware policies and regulations. Assistance/guidance may be provided to and from clerical/secretarial employees in coordinating the work assignment as designated by the administrator(s).

CHARACTERISTICS - DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responds to requests (telephone, personal, and mail) for information/assistance. Communicates in a positive manner to all staff, parents, and community members through phone calls, e-mails, and personal contact.
  • Collects information, organizes, types, and proofreads a variety of documents, including scheduling appointments and performing other receptionist duties.
  • Types correspondence, forms, reports, minutes, etc.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft office & eSchool.
  • Assumes responsibility for accuracy of office accounts, files, etc.
  • Develops and prepares information for various reports and records.
  • Compiles attendance/payroll data for building.
  • Develop methods and procedures for personal use in performing job duties.
  • Opens, sorts, prioritizes mail and messages.
  • Operate various office machines.
  • Assumes responsibility for ordering, distributing, and maintaining office supplies/equipment.
  • Codes information; processes purchase and payment orders; reconciles accounts.
  • Files office correspondence, records, reports, etc.
  • Other related secretarial duties as assigned.

NOTE : Duties in this classification may vary according to specialty area to which assigned.

Additional special qualifications may be required as determined by the appropriate administrator.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years any combination of secretarial-level work experience and/or higher education, business school training.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of filing, accounting, record keeping procedures.
  • Ability to type with accuracy a minimum of 50 words per minute.
  • Experience and competence with computer technology.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to coordinate workload to meet schedules/deadlines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Spanish Preferred
  • Good attendance record.
  • School District and building experience helpful.
