Position Summary : MOT Charter is a small school on a mission to provide a 21 st century learning experience to our students. Planning and preparation
  • Proficient in 7 th and 8 th grade social studies standards and knowledgeable regarding how to align curriculum to those standards.
  • Proficient in 7 th and 8 th grade Common Core Literacy in History and Social Studies Standards.
  • In collaboration with administrators and teachers, augment course content to meet student needs and achieve MOT Charter School's academic goals.
  • Be conversant in the content standards from other disciplines to enhance cross content integration.
  • Consistently plan for differentiation in the classroom to meet the needs of struggling, on grade level, and advanced learners.
  • Align instruction to existing curriculum documents and work with administrators and team members to refine and improve the documented curriculum.

Instruction and Student Achievement
  • Orient students to their course, communicate requirements and maintain accessibility to students.
  • Conduct instruction using problem-solving and integration to the extent possible with other coursework.
  • Take ownership for all students' academic progress and attendance.
  • Communicate high expectations and show an active interest in student achievement.
  • Establish and maintain a positive rapport with families.
  • Conduct conferences with students and parents (or other responsible adults).
  • Provide opportunities for individualized instruction to help each students achieve MOT Charter School curricular objectives.
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
  • Maintain regular contact with students and families through eschool, email and classroom web pages.
  • Collaborate with team members to adjust content and instruction based on analysis of student work and assessment results.
  • Utilize online resources for instruction and communication.
  • Demonstrate exceptional classroom technique in the areas of questioning, clarity of assignments, student collaboration, assessment, and motivation.

Professional Responsibilities
  • Create a classroom environment of respect, responsibility and kindness.
  • Collaborate with other faculty, students and parents in order to provide a positive experience for students.
  • Build community by contributing to school message boards, newsletters and participating in school events.
  • Serve as an advisor or coach to at least one student club, organization or athletic team.
  • Stay current in research relating to content and instruction.
  • Fully commit to MOT's Essential Ten.

Minimum Required Qualifications :
  • 2 years of successful teaching experience at related grade level or content areas.
  • Certification to teach middle school social studies.

Other Required Skills & Abilities :
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and in the use of a student information system
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
