Title of Position: Field Agent, Child Nutrition Programs

Reports to: Education Associate, Nutrition Programs

Director, School Support Services

Description of Position:

The Field Agent, Nutrition Programs is a full time position in the School Support Services Work Group, Student Supports Team. Nutrition Programs include the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), School Nutrition Programs (School Breakfast Program, National School Lunch Program, Afterschool Snack Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, and Special Milk Program) and the Summer Food Service Program.

Major responsibilities of this position include conducting CACFP state-wide compliance reviews and monitoring; completion of CACFP technical assistance and pre-approval visits; and providing CACFP training. Additional responsibilities will include cross training in all Nutrition Programs and assisting on reviews, monitoring, and training of those programs.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Conduct and coordinate on-site administrative reviews and monitoring visits for the 133 CACFP Sponsors and sites participating in the Program.
  • Prepare written reports of findings and perform follow-up visits as needed to ensure compliance and effective implementation of corrective actions.
  • Investigate reports of noncompliance in person and provide recommendations for quality improvement.
  • Provide technical assistance to sponsors participating in Nutrition Programs.
  • Support the annual application renewal process for Nutrition Programs.
  • Assist in development and implementation of training and technical assistance materials.
  • Assist in the development of nutrition education materials for sponsors participating in Nutrition Programs.
  • Collaborate with DDOE Nutrition Team, School Support Services Workgroup, and the Finance staff assigned to support Nutrition Programs.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and health agencies to improve the health of all children.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as requested by the Program Manager, Nutrition Programs, and Director, School Support Services.
  • Cross train in the Summer Food Service Program and School Nutrition Programs as part of a Department-wide effort to improve efficiencies and enhance customer service.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Education:
Bachelor's degree in nutrition, education, food service, administration or related


Experience:
  • 2 years of relevant experience in an area related to federal child nutrition programs
  • Experience working with a team
  • Experience with program or financial monitoring, auditing, coordination, or oversight

Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication, as well as excellent listening and synthesizing skills
  • Excellent skills with current Windows and Microsoft applications
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, relationship-building and negotiating skills
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Capable of setting priorities and working in collaboration with others

Salary:

Salary will be computed in accordance with the education, experience, and training of the individual selected and in accordance with salary schedules for employees of the Department of Education. Direct deposit of payroll checks is a condition of state employment, and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.
