Purpose of Position: Effectively plan for, and administer, the District's Summer 12-Month Program.

Position Summary: 12-Month Program work will begin during the months of January to include appropriate preparatory activities and coordination of services. RCCSD will be conducting the Extended School Year (ESY) Program during the months of June and July 2018. This is a full day program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 12-Month Coordinator will work extensively with the Supervisor of Special Services, Transportation Department, Health Services Coordinator and building level case managers to ensure appropriate services and supports during the 12-Month program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Staffing allocations for 12-Month Program teachers and paraprofessionals in accordance with student IEPs which would include ensuring that all necessary training for provision of special education program to individual students is completed prior to beginning of 12-Month Program services.
  • Ensuring that all 12-Month Program staff members have access to each student's IEP and any Behavior Intervention Plan, as appropriate.
  • Coordination of communication between 12-Month Program staff and case-managers to ensure necessary instructional materials and other supports are in place prior to 12-MONTH PROGRAM.
  • Coordination of transportation requirements including any necessary support personnel in accordance with student IEPs.
  • Coordination of any medical services necessary during 12-Month Program to include ensuring protocols for distribution of medication are in place and followed.
  • Oversight and supervision of instructional and behavioral programs during 12-Month Program activities to ensure all obligations to the IEPs and BSPs are met.
  • Oversight and management of facilities and operations during 12-Month Program activities to ensure appropriate provisions for nutrition services, protocols for visitors, protocols for atypical student pick-up procedures, etc.
  • Ongoing availability to 12-Month Program staff during school hours for the purpose of supporting implementation of instructional and behavior plans as well as crisis response procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
  • Valid Delaware special education teaching license.
  • Preferred: administratively licensed staff or staff working towards their administrative credential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple audiences to include staff members and parents.
  • Ability to organize and carry out all aspects of 12-MONTH PROGRAM coordination in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, administration and support personnel to solve individual problems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of laws regarding special education and district policies and procedures.
  • Incumbents must have successful experience working successfully with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
  • Successful teaching experience or demonstrated potential to effectively teach in a special education environment and knowledge and skill in applying IDEA and 504 requirements and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate services and to coach and support staff and teacher colleagues so that they may effectively implement their responsibilities under the plan.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff verbally and in writing.
  • Commitment to collaboration and teaming and effectiveness in working within a professional learning community.
  • Skill in classroom management and ability to achieve, support, and maintain acceptable student behavior.
  • Evidence of continuous professional learning and a commitment to participate in professional growth opportunities and self-reflection on professional practice.

Note: Red Clay Employees, Summer Rate for all 12-month programs is "per diem"
