Position Summary : MOT Charter is a small school on a mission to provide a 21st century learning experience to our students. Planning and preparation
  • Maintain a superior knowledge of chemistry and biology/general science principles. Proficient in NGSS science standards and knowledgeable regarding how to align curriculum to the standards.
  • In collaboration with administrators and teachers, augment course content to meet student needs and achieve MOT Charter School's academic goals.
  • Be conversant in the learning standards from other disciplines to enhance cross content integration.

Instruction and Student Achievement
  • Orient students to their course, communicate requirements and maintain accessibility to students.
  • Conduct instruction using problem-solving and integration to the extent possible with other coursework.
  • Take ownership for student's academic progress and attendance.
  • Communicate high expectations and show an active interest in student achievement.
  • Establish and maintain a positive rapport with families.
  • Conduct conferences with students and parents (or other responsible adults).
  • Provide opportunities for individualized instruction to help each student achieve MOT Charter School curricular objectives.
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress.
  • Maintain regular contact with students and families through Schoology and eschool.
  • Support students with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment.
  • Support students through basic computer troubleshooting.
  • Utilize online resources for instruction and communication.

Professional Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with other faculty, students and parents in order to provide a positive experience for students.
  • Build community by contributing to school message boards, newsletters, and participating in school events.
  • Serve as an advisor or coach to at least one student club, organization, or athletic team.
  • Stay current in research relating to content and instruction.

Minimum Required Qualifications :
  • 3 years of teaching chemistry and biology/general science at the high school level and a Master's degree in chemistry, biology, general science, or a related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience in a field of applied chemistry or biology

Other Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and in the use of a student information system
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools

A person may not be employed by a public school employer in any position requiring licensure and certification if the person does not meet licensure and certification requirements established under Chapter 12 of [Title 14 of the Delaware Code]..., except pursuant to a license extension and/or emergency certificate issued pursuant to Chapter 12.
