QUALIFICATIONS: Possess or be eligible for a Delaware teaching license and dually certified in special education and one middle level or secondary content area. All candidates must be certified in at least one middle level or secondary content area, Math, ELA, Social Studies, or Science.

Location: Central Academy

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOAL: To provide leadership and support to students in a special education self-contained classroom setting, ensure compliance to the IEP, and provide optimal student learning.


1) Works in collaboration with PBS/Inclusion Facilitator, Building Administrators, and School Psychologists.

2) Work with school psychologists, administrators, Dean of Students, PBS Team, and IST Team to develop and implement effective programming for students with intense behaviors needs.

3) Participate as a member of school targeted intervention teams to review, assess, and monitor data collected.

4) Complete Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans for students who have been referred by Targeted Behavior Intervention Team.

5) Work with ILC teachers in a modified teaching capacity including observing, coaching, modeling, and assisting with implementation of behavior plans.

6) Facilitate articulation between general education and special education teachers as well as vertical articulation between district ILC teachers.

7) Act as a liaison with Building Level administrators and staff to ensure a high quality of effective programming with fidelity.

8) Oversee implementation of FBAs and BIPs for students in district Intensive Learning Centers to ensure fidelity to the prescribed program.

9) Participate in IEP meetings and conduct manifestation meetings when necessary for students in the ILC as well as students in alternative settings and students referred by Targeted Intervention Teams. Ensure students receive services in LRE.

10) Acts as district liaison for students in out-of-district behavioral settings.

11) Work with district and building administrators to determine needs for expanding the in-district continuum of services at all grade levels for behavioral concerns.

12) Work with PBS/Inclusion Facilitator to develop summer programming for students with qualifying for Extended School Year services.

13) Assist schools with crisis intervention and in accessing higher levels mental health support.

BEGINNING DATE: August 22, 2018


Salary and work year to be according to the current salary schedule and the Professional Agreement. Days employed in excess of the established work calendar shall be payable at the employee's regular daily rate.


Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
