Anticipated Reading Interventionist Vacancy

Location: Ross Elementary School

Reports To: Building Principal

Starting Date: August 22, 2018

  • Possess or be eligible to possess a Delaware teaching license as an Elementary Teacher as defined by 4 Del.C. §1521.
  • Reading Specialist certification preferred.
  • Three years successful teaching experience preferred. Knowledge of instructional practices and reading intervention strategies are critical.

  • To improve teaching and learning in Reading instruction by assisting with the professional growth of staff and students. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and delivering instruction based on the approved curriculum and Common Core State Standards to help students move forward proficiently.

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Provide the appropriate educational opportunities and instruction for each student, according to his/her needs and abilities.
  • Participate and provide teachers professional development through workshops, PLC groups, grade level/departmental meetings, one on one, etc. in curriculum development/revisions to align with Common Core Standards and in implementing best practices of reading instruction.
  • Support Response to Intervention initiatives.
  • Work to determine student needs and plan instruction, especially on how to adapt strategies to improve student comprehension of complex text.
  • Collect and analyze student data to determine specific program needs.
  • Evaluate student academic growth, maintain appropriate student records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport and ongoing communication with district stakeholders.
  • Infuse technology into instructional strategies.
  • Participate in student progress meetings and/or IEP meetings as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be according to the current salary schedule and the Professional Agreement. Ten-month teaching assignment.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with Board of Education Policy.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
