To develop each pupil with positive attitudes towards STEM related fields by: providing a strong foundation for math and science content; using an inquiry approach to instruction; improving positive attitudes and increasing self-confidence in STEM; understanding connections between school concepts and their value in the real-world; interacting with role models and mentors from the fields of engineering, science and math; increasing awareness of science and math related careers; and fostering positive interactions with peers by team collaboration. The instructor will accomplish the above job goals by engaging the students in the following concepts: the engineering process; technology drives innovation; using a problem solving model, team collaboration; interpreting data, charts and graphs using descriptive statistics; solve real world problems using analytical thinking, i.e. usability of renewable energy sources; technical reading and writing; forms and the transfer of energy; data analysis and interpretation; and properties of matter as they relate to materials and there uses.
